Improving the Quality  Products and Packaging of Durian Lempok  in Sinar Kuri Village

Durian is one of the mainstay garden products of the Sinar Kuri village community. During the peak harvest season, durian will be very abundant, and so far the community has only sold it in the form of fruit at a very cheap price. So far, the abundant durian fruit has not been processed, for example in the form of “Durian Lempok”, even though durian lempok is one of the leading snacks that is quite famous in Kalimantan, especially in Pontianak City with a relatively expensive price.

Considering this, OWT through the KalFor project has facilitated the Improvement of Durian Lempok Packaging Quality from Sinar Kuri Village. So that this product has wider market opportunities and feasibility, with the durian product brand “Lempok Kuriku” a typical durian lempok product from Sinar Kuri Village. In addition, the lempok packaging also presents the history of the durian garden that was built by the ancestors of the Sinar Kuri community in the APL area, where until now it has been maintained and preserved and has had ecological and socio-economic functions for the community.

In this assistance, training has also been carried out on durian products to become lempok. The training activities were carried out by and for the people of Sinar Kuri Village, because the people already have a unique and different lempok preparation, which is made purely from durian fruit, then wrapped using marau rattan leaves, then dried for 1-2 days or with smoking which the people usually call ‘salai’, to increase the durability of the lempok.
